NORAH
KABARWANI ATENYI SUFFERED FOR SOMETIME A SLOW DEATH AND EVENTUALLY HAD PART OF
HER LEG AMPUTATED LESS THAN A WEEK TO HER EVENTUAL DEATH.
Less
than a month to Norah Kabarwani Atenyi's death,
compensation for her house was made to give way for the works of Entebbe
Expressway. Unfortunately, by that time Norah was a live but not aware what was
going on. She had lost part of her memory when she was admitted to the
Intensive Care Unit at Mulago.
The
last time she was admitted at Mulago, her leg had been found with some maggots
and a decision was made to amputate part of it. She eventually died without
having any say in the compensation only that part of the funds helped to see
her off!
I
had known Norah since 1981. I saw her struggle to support her children. She was
better than many of us who are born men.
A
few day's ago, when I passed by at Muchanga (Lweza), I saw a bit of her house
that was remaining. I could not believe. Norah died and it is real death as
there may not be a worthy house to show her effort.
It
is sad.
It is sad the death of Norah
Kabarwani Atenyi who passed on very early today morning at Mulago Referral
Hospital after Surgery.
I came to know Norah in
1981 when I was in my vacation at Makerere University. I met Eric Sabiiti and
we taught at the Late Katabaro's primary school.
Norah has been like my
mother. I would call on her and she would always be welcoming. She has been
sympathetic to me through hard times. She would never want me to leave without
eating something. I have lost relatives and she could make an effort to attend.
Norah worked at Kajjansi
dispensary for a number of years and also at Mpumudde in Nakawuka before
retiring.
There was a Funeral Service,
Thursday, 22nd September at St. Barnabas Church Lweza at 11.00am and thereafter
burial at 4.00pm at Nakigalala.
This bill from Mulago for a patient who had not been admitted as private was a big shock.
Norah's house at Muchanga by the time of her death
WHEN
I LEARNT THAT NORAH KABARWANI HAD DIED, I
WONDERED WHAT I COULD DO GIVEN THAT SHE HAD BEEN A FRIEND ALMOST A MOTHER.
I
decided to make a Funeral Service booklet as seen below.
Norah Kabarwani Atenyi died on September 21,
2016 at Mulago Hospital and was buried on 22nd September at Nakigalala in
Kajjansi Town Council.
MAY
HER SOUL REST IN ETERNITY
AMEN.
Below
are some images of Norah as she slowly had a painful end to her life. Also, the
house before demolition and as of now, she is history and the house is also
history.
May
the good Lord rest her soul in peace.
